ORCHARD TEA ROOMS

GRANTCHESTER, CAMBRIDGE

“Stands the church clock at ten-to-three? and is there honey still for tea?”

This concept proposal reimagines the traditional tea room as a warm, welcoming retreat with a modern rural sensibility. The interiors balance softness and structure, with sun-washed timbers, hand-finished plaster walls and gentle natural tones creating a sense of calm and quiet conviviality.

The space is divided into distinct but connected areas: a relaxed drawing-room-style lounge with dark green panelled walls and striped upholstery, and a light-filled dining room where hand-painted botanical murals and pitched ceilings offer a soft backdrop to long lunches or afternoon tea.

The furniture has been designed in collaboration with OTZI, combining clean lines with tactile craftsmanship to complement the architectural language. A strong connection to the garden setting and carefully layered lighting complete the atmosphere of considered ease.

INTERIOR VISUAL OF THE SNUG ROOM

We use detailed interior elevations and CGI visuals to clearly communicate design concepts, helping clients visualise spatial layouts, materiality and atmosphere from the earliest stages of a project.

DESIGN & CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT PROCESSES VARY FROM PROJECT TO PROJECT

We worked closely with the owners and management company of the Orchard Tea Rooms to establish the current challenges of the space they were working in to design a better working space for their staff and improve customer experience.
